Welcome! Muli Bwanji!?!?! (Hello and how are you!?!)

Hello everyone! As many of you know, my heart spent some of the most challenging and growing two months in Malawi, Africa this summer. I am now back to my community in San Diego, serving with Flood Church and finishing my senior year at UCSD. I am excited to share with you my experiences, thoughts, and feelings as I continue to process myself what God taught me this summer. I would also love for you to share comments, as well as how I might be praying for you and your family. I will be updating posts and pictures as well as sharing with you ways in which you can continue to support and pray for the children and people that I fell in love with this summer!

Thank you so much for your encouragement, love, support, and most of all, prayers...He is Good!

Love In Him,
Rachel

Encouraging Words of Christ

"I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think."

Ephesians 3:16-20

Overwhelmed by Grace

“I do not at all understand the mystery of Grace - only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.”
– Anne Lamott

I am utterly overwhelmed by my God's grace and mercy tonight. It has slowly been becoming more and more real to me what I am doing this summer. The more I think about it, the more I realize how unworthy and blessed I am to be able to experience God's hand working in new and extraordinary ways this summer.

As I was recently discussing with some fellow students from Flood; throughout life, we usually don't know what or when those challenging, stretching, life changing moments or events will be. So how do you prepare for something when you already know it will change, shape, and forever alter your life and the way you view the world? I know that I can't; at least not on my own. J It is the very One who is placing me in Malawi, Africa this summer of 2008; that will be my Rock, my source of strength, and my Redeemer! I am praying that through this week, my fears and doubts might fade, and instead I overflow with His peace and joy, as I seek complete reliance in who God is in my life and His unfailing love!

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my Light, my Strength, my Song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest
drought and storm

What heights of love,
what depths of peace
When fears are stilled,
when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory let it be said of me
My source of strength
My source of hope
In Christ alone

Rachel, Well it sure is fun being on your site seeing how God has prepared you for this trip. I miss you so much and hope that you get an opportunity to share what's going on over there soon. I looked you up on my globe the other day just to pretend to know what it's like on your adventure. Love you.
